Stroke/Carotid Artery Stenosis
Carotid artery disease screening is a simple, non-invasive and painless test. During the test, you will be asked to lie on your back. After applying gel to your neck, a probe is used to detect images and to measure blood flow through the carotid arteries.
Doppler ultrasound technology is used to measure the amount of plaque and speed of blood flow. Findings are reported as:
- Within normal range
- Mild to moderate risk
- Moderate risk
- Significant risk
